Brussels Group - Success Story

Thumbs up for SPAS project
Five TII members, together with eight more partners, have been granted the approval of their project SPAS by the European Commission through the ETI Programme (Co-ordination Actions in Stepping up Economic and Technological Intelligence Activities). The project called SPAS (“SMEs Virtual Platform on Agro-Food Sector to access the Sixth and Seventh Framework Programme”) aims  to encourage SMEs working in the agro-food sector to participate in FP6 and FP7 projects, and especially in the new instruments - IPs and NoEs.

Participation will be focused on new and on-going programmes, paying special attention to calls for proposals and calls for tenders. SMEs will receive personalized information about the opportunities that FP6 and FP7 can bring them and obtain advice on proposal preparation and submission. They will also be offered innovation assessment services, comprising an international cross-checking to match needs and opportunities among targeted SMEs in order to create successful consortia to apply under FP calls.

Several European companies, institutions and RTD centres are involved in this project, but the original idea came from five TII members: ARĂ–W (D), CARTIF (E), BESEL (E), TECHMINHO (P) and META Group (I). This success demonstrates the advantages that TII membership and its services, such as the Brussels Group, offer, and the many cooperation opportunities that members may benefit from within the network.
