UNISPIN
This SIS was first launched in 1999, at the end of an EU-funded project, as a special forum to network professionals working in universities, other higher education institutions, research centres, regional development agencies, etc. in the areas of spin-off development and academic entrepreneurship. |
|
The group is spearheaded by the UNISPIN founders
- |
Peter van der Syde of NIKOS, University of Twente, Enschede (NL), |
- |
Magnus Klofsten, Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, University of Linköping (S), |
- |
Colette Henry Dundalk Institute of Technology (IRL) |
Its principal activity is to organize training and good practice exchange workshops promoting new methods and approaches for stimulating the creation of spin-offs, science-based businesses and academic entrepreneurship. The UNISPIN Winter Workshop has become a regular feature in the association’s programme of activities, attracting an average of 15-20 participants from across the EU to one of Europe’s premier winter locations.

The Business Platform: Entrepreneurship and management in the early stages of a firm’s development, written by Magnus Klofsten of Linköping University and published by TII, analyses the factors which are vital for the launch and successful development of a technology-based firm. The book describes the eight cornerstones which are necessary for a young business to survive and reach a so-called “Business Platform”; the model is then illustrated through three real case studies.

| Testimonial: To all of the participants at UNISPIN Winter Workshop in Salzburg We would like to thank you all for making the winter workshop an interesting workshop to participate in. We have enjoyed the very relevant sessions and the good opportunity to network with colleagues with similar interests. The workshops gave us a good opportunity to learn about the basis for entrepreneurship in other countries and reflect on the way we work with entrepreneurship in Denmark. Also, we enjoyed the good company of all of you and hope to be able to cooperate with you in the future. And last but not least, we enjoyed Salzburg and the local meal at the Monastery! If you have any questions about entrepreneurship in Denmark, do not hesitate to contact us! Best regards from Anders Vestergaard and Sara Gallop Aalborg University - Denmark
